24.03.2025

Effective June 1, 2025, Rüdiger Hackhausen will retire, marking the end of a remarkable career that has spanned over 40 years. With his long-standing dedication, deep expertise, and innovative mindset, he has played a key role in shaping and advancing the claims industry.

Hackhausen began his career at Agrippina Versicherung, followed by leadership roles at DA Direkt and Deutsche Herold Allgemeine Versicherung. He later served as a member of the holding board and Chief Claims Officer at Zurich Gruppe Deutschland, where he oversaw the claims division. In 2010, he founded a centralized fraud unit—a groundbreaking step in the fight against insurance fraud. He also served on the board of ADAC Autoversicherung AG.

In April 2012, Hackhausen joined Allianz Versicherungs-AG, where he led the Claims Executive Department until the end of 2020. He was responsible for driving the strategic development of the claims function, with a focus on digitalizing claims processes and combating insurance fraud. Over the years, Hackhausen was also active in various committees within the German Insurance Association (GDV), most notably as chairman of the GDV Commission for Combating Crime in the Insurance Industry.

Since June 1, 2021, Hackhausen has served as Managing Director of ControlExpert in Germany. In this role, he was primarily responsible for the insurance business, as well as the automotive, fleet, and leasing sectors. Under his leadership, the company established a comprehensive claims management system and expanded its value chain—from online claims reporting to claims handling and fully automated processing. His extensive insurance knowledge was a major factor in the success of these offerings and helped strengthen customer relationships across Germany and the broader DACH region.

Sebastian Lins, Managing Director at ControlExpert, expressed his appreciation for Hackhausen, saying: “With his expertise and strong network, Rüdiger Hackhausen has taken our customer management to a whole new level and played a key role in advancing our sales strategy. On behalf of all our colleagues, I want to thank him for his outstanding work and wish him all the best in his next chapter.”

Reflecting on his upcoming retirement, Hackhausen shared: “My more than four decades in the insurance industry have always brought me great joy. I’m proud to have helped shape the industry’s development and am grateful for the many valuable personal encounters and experiences along the way. That said, I’m not stepping away entirely—insurance remains an exciting field, and I’ll continue to be involved in a consulting capacity.”

With his departure from active corporate leadership, an influential chapter in the industry comes to a close. His knowledge and insight will undoubtedly continue to inspire and influence the field for years to come.
